The lovely community of Surprise, Arizona is located in Maricopa County. The city began when Flora Mae Statler purchased farmland in 1938 that covered one square mile. Statler had stated if the town ever amounted to anything she would be surprised and the name was chosen. As it turned out, the town became a city of over 120,000 people. The Surprise Aquatic Center is a 4,700 square-foot water area with a competition pool, waterslides, a tunnel, a flume and vortex whirlpool.
